With faster and faster broadband speeds, video is probably the faster growing internet medium. And this means that video marketing is a really hot activity to help your content go viral and and bring in backlinks to help your search engine ranking.
Step 1 – Create Your Video
While there are some automated tools you can use to make video, the important thing to realize is that if you want your video to go viral it really has to be a good video. So, the first important step is to make a good video – be creative! To do this, you could use your camcorder to film some real-life action. You could use your webcam to film yourself speaking or presenting. Or, you could use some screen capture software like Jing, Screenr or Screencast-O-Matic to make your video. This latter option would enable you to demonstrate or preview some online content or you could use it to show a PowerPoint presentation with you doing a voiceover. Which option you choose will depend on the type of video you want to make and the type of niche you are operating in.

Step 2 – Distribute Your Video
There are an increasing number of websites who are happy for you to upload your video to their site for free. The obvious one is YouTube but there are many more such as Viddler, Break, Seven Load and Clip Shack. The manual approach is simply to select your favorite video sites and upload your video – being sure to include your keywords in your description and tags so that people can find your video, along with a backlink to your site.
However, there is also a really low-cost WordPress plugin (at the time of writing it is available for under $10) that completely automates the process. It is called Media Auto Links and it works on the basis that whenever you upload a video (or audio or an image) to a blog post, it will automatically upload your video/media to up to 20 sites. The description and tags are automatically taken care of and you will automatically get a backlink to your site from each of the video sites that you choose to upload your video to. Unless you are really struck for cash, we strongly recommend you use this simple yet effective automation tool.
The time consuming element of video marketing is the creation of good quality videos and as you can see, the uploading and distribution of them is simple and easily automated. And remember, a good quality video will have a very high chance of going viral so it is well worth putting the effort in to this element of the process.
